Making an antler mount has historically been done using a kit, that covers the small portion of the skull required to display them, and placing them on a board or plaque.

Recently, the European mount has become quite popular, it is simple, unique, and has a very rustic look to it.  It is also something that can be done at home for very little money, and the end result looks quite professional.

Making a European mount requires the use of the whole top portion of the deer skull, that is, the entire head and upper jaw.  The secret to a professional looking final product, is to remove all flesh and brain matter, and perform a thorough whitening process, as shown in the video.

There are other ways to get the skull ready for whitening, to include the use of flesh eating beetles, or simply burying the skull in the ground, but the method shown in the video is probably one of the quickest ways to get the job done.  I hope you get the chance to try this method with your own Trophy Buck!
